FUNERAL FOR A.C. Pitman - Was Veteran of Spanish War
Alfred Calvin Pitman, 62, Spanish-American war veteran, died Wednesday at 1 p.m. in a local hospital after an illness of 5 days.

Funeral services were held Friday morning at the White Rock Baptist Church with Rev. Ray Short of Whitesboro, Rev. Clyde Beck, pastor of White Rock church, and Rev. J.E. King of Denison officiating.  Interment was in West Hill Cemetery directed by Dannell-Scott.
Pallbearers were J.A. Bailey, W.M. Seal, C.L. Biggers, C.N. McCallister of Southmayd, H.J. Patterson, Walter Clark and William Clark of the White Rock community and Wayne Shearer of Sherman.
Mr. Pitman was born May 17, 1880 in Greenville, South Carolina, son of Mr. and Mrs. Soloman Pitman.  He married Miss Lillie Ann Pitman at Tigerville, South Carolina November 25, 1901, and they came to Texas in 1901, returned to South Carolina and then came back to Texas in 1903.  Mr. and Mrs. Pitman resided at White Rock community for 20 years and moved to Southmayd in June 1942.  Mr. Pitman was a member of the White Rock Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife; 3 sons, Jack Pitman of Denison; Joe Pitman of Madison, Wisconsin; and Hayden Pitman of Dallas; 3 daughters, Mrs. C.M. Rutherford of Denison; Mrs. J.J. Garren of Southmayd; and Mrs. L.D. Allison of Sherman, route 1; and 12 grandchildren.
