 West Hill Cemetery Sherman, Texas  Ruth Reeves Holmes 1895 - 1995 Sherman Democrat
October 14, 1943 John W. "Bill" Holmes, 49, a Sherman letter carrier for nearly 24 years, died Thursday at a local hopsital after an illness of six months. Funeral services were held Friday at the East Sherman Baptist Church with Rev. L.O. Evans, pastor, officiating. Interment followed at West Hill Cemetery with Waldo Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were Carl Adams, Horaace Mitchell, Rada Buck, Frank Moseley, Clarence Carruth and Costa Morrow, all employes of Sherman Post Office. Mr. Holmes was born April 30, 1898 in Sherman, son of Ed Holmes, who died September 8, 1943, and Mary Harris Holmes. After the death of his first wife, Mr. Holmes married Mrs. Ruth Reeves on April 5, 1922 in Sherman, where the resided at 415 South Charles. He was Chairman of the Board of Deacons for East Sherman Baptist Church. Survivors include his widow; a son, Billy Holmes of Houston; three daughters, Mrs. S.R. Brinkley of Dallas; Miss Mary Holmes of Waco; and Mrs. Jimmie Romine of Sherman; a grandson and three sisters.
