Dorchester- Funeral services for Harry William Burke will be held at 10:00 am Monday, November 12 in the Waldo Funeral Chapel. Rev. Bobby
Fletcher of the Dorchester Baptist Church and Rev. Bob Layman of Greenville will officiate. Music will be provided by Dennis Garner.
Burial will follow at West Hill Cemetery with Doug Garner, Jody Garner, David Layman, Nathan Layman, Mark Bartlett, and Pat Tally serving as
pallbearers. Mr. Burke passed away Friday, November 9 at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center at the age of 81.

Harry was born on May 25, 1926 in Sherman to the late H.R. and Esther (Shatley) Burke. He graduated from Sherman High School in 1943 and attended Austin College for two years. During World War II, Mr. Burke served in the Pacific with the US Navy from 1944 to 1946. He married Jessie Lou Todd on January 24, 1953 in Sherman. Harry worked for 28 years as a draftsman in the engineering department of Hardwick-Etter before retiring in 1975. During retirement he raised registered Black Angus cattle. Harry was a member of the American Legion and Dorchester Baptist Church.

Mr. Burke is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jessie Lou of Dorchester; one nephew, Pat Tally of Sherman; two great nephews, Chris Tally of Sherman and Jason Tally of Dallas; one great niece, Jennifer Tally of Houston; four sisters-in-law, Jimmie Garner of Gunter, Lorene Grissom of Van Alstyne, Wanda Bartlett and husband Jack of Sherman, and Doris Layman and husband Bob of Greenville. He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Lorene Hughes.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 pm Sunday at Waldo Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Dorchester Baptist Church at 11817 FM 902 Howe, Texas 75459.
