 West Hill Cemetery Sherman, Texas   John W. Thompson 8 October 1917 - 19 November 1944 Texas PFC 10th Armed Division WWII  PFC John W. Thompson, son of Mr. J.W. Thompson, Jr., graduated from Loving School. He entered the service in March 1942, training at Camp Wolters, Army, Ft. Knox, Kentucky and Pine Camp, New York. He was stationed overseas in England and participated in the invasion of D-Day. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Presidential Citation. He was KIA in France in November 1944.
