Joy Dean Whitten, 91 of New Boston, Texas, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at her residence.  Mrs. Whitten was born July 10, 1929 in Sherman, Texas.  She was retired as a Manager with the Texas Employment Commission and member of Rock Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Whitten of New Boston, Texas; one daughter, Catherine Yoder of Arkansas; 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, James Loyd Magers, Jr. of Arkansas; and David Whitten and wife, Denise, of Mineola, Texas; special foster daughter, Pattie and Vernon Moore; grandchildren: Jennifer Yoder and Kurt Burnside; Kristen Yoder and Frank Wilson; Nathan Yoder and Britney Bean Yoder; great-grandchildren: Luke, Emma and Austin Burnside; Teagen and Hendryx Yoder; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Friday morning, July 31, 2020 at Rock Creek Baptist Church with Bro. Steve Minter, Bro. Doyce Whitten and Bro. Kenneth Whitten officiating.  Graveside and interment was Friday afternoon in West Hill Cemetery, Sherman, Texas under the direction of Bates Rolf Funderal Home, New Boston, Texas.
