EARLY SETTLER MRS. WHITTED DIES SUNDAY
Mrs. Mahala Louisa Whitted, 86, early settler of Grayson county, whose father was the first Sheriff of Grayson County, died Sunday night at 8:40 at her home, 1414 W. Sears, following an illness of 2 weeks.  Her father was Joshua West.
Funeral service will be conducted at 2 o'clock p.m. Tuesday from the Short-Murray chapel with Rev. S.L. Terry officiating.  Interment will be at West Hill, Sherman, with Short-Murray directing.
Mrs. Whitted was born at Preston Bend, October 21, 1850 and received her schooling at Cole [sic] Springs, now known as Hyde Park.  Her husband died in 1916, to whom she was married March 12, 1871 at Sherman.
Surviving are one son, Connie, of this city; and a daugther Mrs. H.H. Jones, Linn, Missouri.  A brother, Joseph West, lives at Whitesboro.
Ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren survive also.
