Sherman, Texas

Minister Angelia Holmes Steele, 61, of Sherman ascended to her eternal home Monday, July 24, 2023 at her Sherman residence following an extended illness.
She was born in Birmingham, Alabama on July 30, 1961, daughter of Willie C. Holmes, Sr. and Johnnie M. Holmes.
Angelia confessed Christ as her Savior in 1986 while stationed in Okinawa, Japan with her husband and lived a prayerful, spirit-filled Christian life.  She was a member of the Kadena Air Force Base Gospel Choir.  Strengthened by faith and filled with the spirit, she responded to God's call to serve as a minister in 1988 while in Colorado Springs, Colorado at Progressive Church of God in Christ #2 where she was a faithful member.  She sung in the choir and taught the children's church.
Minister Steele and her family moved to Sherman, Texas in 1996 where she co-pastored Word of Life Community Church, which later changed to More Than Conquerors Faith Center Church.  She taught Sunday school, Bible study, led Praise and Worship and preached the Word of God wholeheartedly.  Minister Steele was a faithful and extraordinary woman who loved the Lord, her family, her church family and community.  Following her husband, they felt the call of God to use their ministry gifts elsewhere by joining Harmony Missionary Baptist Church where she has been a faithful member leading the Praise and Worship team.
She had a heart to serve in any capacity that the Lord led her to.  She especially had a heart to serve women and children throughout the years, serving on several non-profits supporting children and women concerns.
She opened her heart and home as a nurturing Foster Mom through the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services where she loved and cared for more than 40 children.
In spite of adversity and failing health, she never lost her optimism and her faith in God never wavers.   Blessed with many miracles, she recognized God's favor upon her life.  She lived by the Scripture, Psalms 118:17, "I  shall not die, but life.  And declare the works of the Lord."
Minister Steele was classy at all times; she dressed fine from head to toe.  She loved those shopping trips with her daughter and friends.  Her motto was "The Very Best for Less" when she saw something she really wanted, most of the time it was on clearance and sure enough she would buy it.  She will be remembered for her strength, generosity, caring spirit and love for her family.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her high school sweetheart and loving husband of 41 years, Terrence Steele; caring and concerned children: Brandon Steele and wife, Kera of Anna, Texas; Brian Steele of Sherman, Texas; Breana Morgan and husband, D'Andre, of Midlothian, Texas.  Eleven gracious and glorious grandchildren, who called her "Gran" of "GrandMommy": Kemareyon Mack; Sebastian Steele; Zuri Steele; Amiya Steele; Teryn Steele of Anna, Texas; JaySean Steele of  McKinney; Mia Steele and Jaidyn Steele of Princeton; Braylen Steele of Mansfield, Texas; Brielle Morgan and D'Andre Morgan, Jr. of Midlothian, Texas.
Her committed and caring brothers: Willie C. Holmes, Jr. of The Colony, Texas and Jerry Holmes and wife, Denise, of Nevada, Texas.
Minister Steele was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Quinten C. Holmes
The Celebration of Life services were held Saturday afternoon, July 29, 2023 at Harmony Baptist Church, Sherman with Rev. Clifton Eaton as Host Pastor.  Her husband,  Associate Pastor, Terrence Steele, delivered the Eulogy.   Burial followed at West Hill Cemetery.
