SKETCH OF C.E. WILLIAMS
Was Father of Mrs. Will A. Perkins of this City

Charles E. Williams of Sherman, father of Mrs. Will Perkins who was buried at Sherman on Monday, is taken from the Denison Herald:

"Charles E. Williams was born in Carroll county, Missouri in 1841, and was therefore 69 years of age at the time of his death.  At the outbreak of the Civil War he offered his service to the Confederacy and served throughout the entire 4 year struggle for the cause of the South.  After the war he went to California, where he engaged in farming.   In early manhood he made quite a fortune as a planter, and in 1871 was married to Miss Virginia Wright, the ceremony taking place in her home city, Gainesville, Alabama.  Three years later, in 1874, Mr. and Mrs. Williams paid a visit to friends in North Texas, and were so well pleased with Grayson county that they purchased land about 3 miles east of Sherman and built them a comfortable home.  Here they resided until about 3 years ago, when they came to Sherman to reside."
