Carl Gene Blair was born on August 26, 1939 in Paducah, Texas, son of Carl "Mack" Blair and Lorene Blair.  He was raised in the CeeVee Community in Texas.  He passed away on January 22, 2021 at the Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas.
He joined the U.S. Air Force in June 1960 as a military policeman and security dog trainer.  He served for 10 years.  He was a Staff Sergeant and received numerous awards, including a Bronze Star with a "V" device during a TET offensive in Vietnam in 1966-1967.  He was a Vietnam veteran.
Carl worked as a police officer and detective at the University of California at Santa Barbara and a deputy sheriff for Santa Barbara County.  He received his degree in Criminal Justice in 1973.  After retiring from the police force, he worked 13 years for the U.S. Department of Justice as a correctional officer and U.S. Marshall.
Carl met Bonnie in 1966 and they were married in 1967.  They raised 1 daughter, Lou Ann.
Carl was an avid animal lover and opened his home to numerous stray animals.  He loved fishing and hunting with his grandson, Gregory.
Carl is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Jimmy.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; daughter, Lou Ann; grandson, Gregory; brother, David; sister, Gale Mills; cousin, Ronald Blair, from Tehachapi, California; numerous nephews and nieces and great-nieces and nephews.
Graveside services with military honors were held Friday afternoon, February 26, 2021 at West Hill Cemetery in Sherman, Texas. - - -      Waldo Funeral Home
