Helen Sharp, 94, went to her heavenly home and was met by her Savior Jesus Christ on August 22, 2019.  Helen passed away in Carnegie, Oklahoma.  A graveside service was held at West Hill Cemetery in Sherman, Texas on Tuesday afternoon, August 27, 2019.
Helen was born on November 19, 1924 in Quinton, Oklahoma, daughter of Charles and Nellie Richerson.  Most of her childhood was spent growing up in Amarillo, Texas until she met Darl Dean Sharp of Panhandle, Texas at age 16.  They were married October 18, 1942 and lived in Panhandle for many years.  During their 61 years of marriage they had and are survived by 3 sons - Don Sharp and wife, Linda, of Sherman, Texas; Jerry Sharp and wife, Kay, for Carnegie, Oklahoma; and Van Sharp and wife, Penni, from Richardson, Texas.  In February 1975 Helen accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior.  She then joined and was an active charter member of Calvary Baptist Church in Panhandle and served in many areas and ministries there.  She especially loved the mission trips to Mexico to help people in need.
Our Mom was a multi-talented lady.  While raising 3 sons, she was also a wonderful Mom, homemaker, seamstress, gardener and excellent cook - her pies were simply the best!  Among her many hobbies and interests were f ishing, country music, the Texas Rangers, and the Dallas Cowboys, operating a  hair salong, knitting, genealogy and dancing a waltz - herfavorite.  She was a very talented and self-taught drawer and painter as well.  Mom loved painting scenes with fish, birds, horses and cattle and various country and western themes.  Over the years she sold many of her paintings.  Helen and Darl were also avid golfers and were charter members of the Panhandle Country Club.  Helen was the ladies golf champion for several years in the annual tournaments there.  They enjoyed  many wonderful rounds of golf with every goilfer in town for many years.
Besides her 3 sons, Helen leaves 6 grandchildren: Kelly Smalts; Roger Sharp; Jessica Sharp; Stephen Sharp; David Sharp; and Donna Montgomery; and 4 great-grandchildren: Andrew Smalts; Emily Sharp; Alyssa Sharp; and Ian Montgomery.
