SHERMAN - Funeral for Willie R. Merriweather, 96, 805 S. Andrews St., who died Friday in a Sherman nursing home, was at Monday afternoon in Boyd-Smith-White Funeral Home with Rev. F.S. Overton, pastor of St. John CME Church officiating.  Burial was in West Hill Memorial Park.
Born on Pontotoc County, Indian Territory April 15, 1889, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mack Merriweather was a former resident of Dallas and was a member of the Porter CME Church there.  He was a retired insurance agent.
Survivors include a niece, Henrietta Merriweather; and a nephew, Matthew Merriweather.

Services for Willie R. Merriweather of 805 S. Andrews St., 95-year-old retired insurance agent who died Friday in Sherman Nursing Center, were held Monday afternoon at Boyd-Smith-White Mortuary.  Rev. F.S. Overton, pastor of St. John C.M.E. Church, officiated.  Burial was in West Hill Memorial Park.
Mr. Merriweather was born in Pontotoc County, Oklahoma, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mack [sic] Merriweather and attended Maxwell Community School in Ada, Oklahoma.  He married Arlener Culton in Dallas and was a member of Porter C.M.E. Church in Dallas.  He had been a resident of Sherman for 3 years.
Surviving are his nephew and niece, Matthew W. Merriweather and Henrietta Merriweather, with whom he made his home.
