FORMER SENATOR DIES IN CRASH NEAR HILLSBORO
Ed Westbrook, Dead from Car Accident, Late Tuesday Night; Funeral Services Planned for Thursday at Sherman Home

Sherman - Funeral services for former State Senator Ed Westbrook, who was killed in an auto accident north of Hillsboro Tuesday late, were conducted in this city Thursday, it was planned today.
His body will be brought this afternoon to his home town from Hillsboro where it was discovered in his wrecked car a short distance from the city where it had crashed into a railroad dump.  The car had crashed through a guard railing.
According to reports, no one witnessed the accident, Mr. Westbrook being in the car alone at the time.  His body was removed to a hospital but he was already dead.
Mr. Westbrook came to Sherman from Wolfe City several years ago, having served  Hunt county in the legislature for a while.  He ran for that office in Grayson County and was elected.  He later was selected as Senator from this district.   Six years ago he missed being elected to the position of county judge by only one vote.
Mr. Westbrook was a brother of former Commissioner Westbrook of this county, and came from a family having active part in politics.
Many years ago, Mr. Westbrook was active in the cause of populism when that political faith was in its highest career.  He was connected in Hunt county with the movement along with his father, who was an influential figure.
