Jerry M. Murphy, 69, of McKinney passed away Monday, August 11, 2008.  Funeral service were held Friday afternoon, August 15, 2008 at High Pointe Church of Christ with Stan Quesenbery officiating.  Interment followed at West Hill Cemerty in Sherman, Texas.  Dannel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Jerry was born in Sherman on April 26, 1939, son of Howard and Dorothy Hestand Murphy.  A graduate of Sherman High school, he attended Austin College and North Texas State College.  While serving in the U.S. Navy, he was stationed on the USS Midway and was a member of the Naval Reserve.  On January 9, 1965 he married Juanita McLaughlin in Sherman.  Jerry owned and managed J.M. Murphy & Co., an advertising firm.
Jerry considered his greatest gifts to be his many longtime and loving friends, and he always enjoyed sharing stories about his life experiences.  He was a talented storyteller.
Predeceased by his parents and granddaughter, Makinzie Murphy, Jerry is survived by his wife, Juanita; daughter, Jennifer Leigh Murphy; son, Jeremy Lee Murphy and wife, Andrea Kay, of Clawson, Michigan; and grandson, Justin Murphy.  Survivors also include brother-in-law, Tom McLaughlin and wife, Darlene, of Bowie; and sister-in-law, Wanda Roberts, of Grand Prairie, as well as many cousins, newphes and nieces.
Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Tom McLaughlin, Robert Rahmet, Bill Cobb, Troy Borden, Homer Beck, Sid Perlstein, Bob Dilden, Rex Smith, Josiah Spears and Lee Royal.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Collin County Church of Christ Building Fund, P.O. Box 2683, McKinney, Texas 75069.
