MR. S.C. RICE DEAD IN SHERMAN, TEXAS
Information was received here yesterday to the effect that Mr. S.C. Rice died of meningitis at his home in Sherman, Texas, last Thursday morning.
Mr. Rice was an uncle of the editor of this paper, well known in Perry, whence he moved to Texas in 1872.  It would not be becoming us to sound his praises, yet our love for him as a relative and an honest, upright man must not fail of expression.
He leaves a wife, and several children to mourn his loss.  He has one brother, Mr. J.R. Rice, of Mason; and 3 sisters, Mrs. M.A. Hodges, of Hawkinsville; Mrs. J.E. Barrett, of Perry; and Mrs. J.F. Barrett, of near Perry.
He was a true friend, a loving husband and father.
May he reap the reward of those who have found peace with God, and may the bereaved wife and children find strength to bear their great sorrow.
Their many friends here sympathize with them.
