Funeral services for Curry Helmuth Vogelsang were held Monday morning, September 23, 2019 at Covenant Presbyterian Church.  Chris Vogelsang and Rev. Lisa Perkins officiated.  A private family committal service preceded the funeral at West Hill Cemetery with his grandsons serving as pallbearers.  Curry, 81, passed away Monday, September 16, 2019 at Wilson N. Jones Memorial Hospital.
Curry was born December 28, 1937 in San Antonio, Texas, son of Helmuth and Emmie Margaret Curry Vogelsang.  He attended Alamo Heights High School in San Antonio where he played varsity basketball and graduated in 1955.  Curry graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 1960 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology.  He was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order.  After working in the oil fields and active duty with the United States Army, Curry attended and graduated from the University of Texas School of Law in May 1964.
On December 29, 1962 Curry married the love of his life, Barbara Kay Buchanan at First Baptist Church in Sherman, Texas.  Upon law school graduation, Curry and Barbara moved to Wichita Falls where he began his practice of Law.  In 1970 Curry and Barbara moved to Sherman where he continued law practice with various firms until his death.
Curry was very active in the community as President of the Chamber of Commerce, served on the Sherman Economic Development Board, and a member of Rotary International. He also enjoyed teaching Criminal Law during 2 stints at Grayson County College.  Curry also considered if an honor and privilege to be the Municipal Court Judge of Sherman for over 41 years from 1974 to 2014.
Curry was an elder at Covenant Presbyterian Church and served the Lord and church family in many ways.  In his early years, he enjoyed playing tennis and was always found coaching and volunteering in his children's activities.  Curry loved a great game of bridge and was known to many as an avid reader.  He could often be found watching a Dallas Maverick game, listening to jazz music, or smoking some barbecue.  Curry especially loved golf and shared the passion with a regular group of friends.  His favorite times were spent with friends and family, especially his grandkids.
Curry is survived by his wife of over 56 years; 2 sons, Curry Vogelsang, Jr.
and wife, Andrea, of Prosper; and Chris Vogelsang and wife, Lora, of McKinney; and daughter, Katie Vogelsang Stubblefield and husband, Sam, of Sherman; 9 grandchildren - Drew Vogelsang and wife, Lauren, of Austin; Emma, Ana, Will, Ethan and Adelie Vogelsang of McKinney; Jackson Stubblefield of Dallas; Rhett Stubblefield of Denton; and Graham Stubblefield stationed in Croughton, England.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Nancy Onion.

Barbara Kay Buchanan Vogelsang, 82, passed away Monday, December 19, 2022 at Sherman, Texas in the company of her children.  Her funeral was held Thursday morning, December 29, 2922 at Covenant Presbyterian Church.  Chris Vogelsang and Rev. Lisa Perkins officiated. A private family burial will precede the funeral at West Hill Cemetery with her grandsons serving as pallbearers.
Barbara was born April 19, 1940 in Sherman, Texas, daughter of Burgess and Katherine (Kay) Yates Buchanan.  She graduated from Sherman High School in 1958 where she made lifelong friends that she still had today.  She attended Texas Tech University where she pledged and was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Fraternity.  Barbara
then transferred and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1962 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.  While attending the University of Texas, she met the love of her life, Curry, on a blind date.
On December 29, 1962 Barbara married Curry Helmuth Vogelsang at First Baptist Church in Sherman, Texas.  As an educator, she taught middle school math in Austin and Wichita Falls.  The family moved to Sherman in 1970.  After having children, she transitioned from being a teacher to focusing her energy on her home and raising children.
Barbara later became a Realtor and loved serving her clients while working for Davis Realtors and Dean Gilbert Realtors. 
Barbara was an elder at Covenant Presbyterian Church and served her Lord and church family in many area. She was very active in the community, being involved with the Sherman Service League, Needlework Guild, Sherman Antique Club, Rejebian Book Club, Shakespeare Club, and as an avid bridge player was a part of several bridge groups.
In her early years she enjoyed playing tennis and could always be found volunteering in schools and her children's activities. Barbara loved the performing arts and routinely attended musicals, plays, symphonies, and music events.  She loved being with friends, whether at her monthly supper club or other events and occasions.  Barbara was the heart of her family and loved spending time attending games, performances, plays, concerts of her children and grandchildren.  She would always be cheering, celebrating, and encouraging them all.  There was nothing she enjoyed more than spending time with her family and friends in her home.  As Proverbs 31:28 says, "Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her."
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of over 56 years.
She is survived by 2 sons, Curry Vogelsang, Jr. and wife, Andrea, of Prosper and Chris Vogelsang and wife, Lora, of McKinney; and one daughter, Katie Vogelsang Stubblefield and husband, Sam, of Sherman; 9 grandchildren: Drew Vogelsang and wife, Lauren, of Round Rock, Texas; Emma Morgun and husband, Phillip, of Louisville, Kentucky; Ana Vogelsang of Louisville, Kentucky; Will, Ethan and Adelie Vogelsang of McKinney; Jackson Stubblefield of Dallas; Rhett Stubblefield of Ft. Worth; and Graham Stubblefield stationed in San Antonio, Texas.  She is also survived by her brothers, Burgess Buchanan, Jr. and wife, Pat, of Austin; and John Buchanan and wife, Kathie, of Georgetown.
