James Risk

Mr. Risk was born February 28, 1887 in Beirut, Lebanon, son of Mr. and Mrs. Abdullah Risk.  He died July 2, 1964 at a local hospital in Sherman, Texas after a long illness.  He came to Sherman as a boy.  Later he moved to Naples, Texas for a short time,  He returned to Sherman to become associated in business with his brother, John.
On September 14, 1930 he married Miss Martha Sofey.  Subsequently in 1938, he moved to Denison, Texas where he opened a shoe repair business.  He retired in 1958 and returned to Sherman.
He was a member of the Odd Fellows.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, John N. Risk.
He is survived by his wife of the home; 3 sons, Leo Risk of Dallas; Otto Risk of Animas, New Mexico; and Robert Risk of El Paso, Texas; 3 daughters, Mrs. George Hodges and Mrs. Ella Reeves of Dallas; and Mrs. Victor Kline of Albuquerque, New Mexico; brother, Annis Risk of Brazil; 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Rev. Allan Smith, pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Sherman, officiated over the funeral services.  Paul Casemedes, Jr., Ray Horany, Harvey Snider, Sam Abraham, H.K. Shadid and Tom Saffa, Jr. were pallbearers.
