Lawrence Andrew Morse, 87, of Sherman, Texas, passed away Thursday, Februuary 8, 2009 at WNJ Medical Center in Sherman.  Services were held at Dannel Funeral Home on Saturday afternoon, February 14, 2009.  Chaplain David Taylor of Wilson N. Jones Medical Center officiated.  Interment followed at West Hill Cemetery with military honors accorded at the graveside.
Mr. Morse was born December 26, 1921 in Danville, Arkansas, son of Thomas and Dora Mae Tabor Morse.  He attended public schools in both Sherman and Floydada, Texas, but had to drop out in order to work and earn enough money to help feed the family.  He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1942-1945, earning the rank of Sergeant and receiving 15 battle stars.  He was in the paratroopers and also served as a medic.  After the war he worked at the VA hospital in McKinney and then transferred to the Bonham VA Center, where he worked until 1982.  He married Anna Rae Pierce on August 17, 1945 in Palm Springs, California.  They enjoyed almost 60 years of marriage before her death in 2005.
Mr. Morse had a special relationship with Brother Leon Martin, who ministered to him for many years and baptized him 7 years ago,  He was devoted to his family, and knew the value of hard work.  He was a compassionate and thoughtful person but never showed his emotions.
Mr. Morse was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and 3 brothers, J.B. Morse, Ted Morse, and Ross Morse.
He is survived by 2 sons, Thomas Ray Morse and wife, Phyllis, of Madill, Oklahoma; and Stephen Andrew Morse of Sherman; a daughter, Sharon B. Mullins of Sherman; 5 grandchildren, Melanie Dresche, Amy Morse, Cassie Pugh, Kevin Stanley, and Kacie Crowder; 4 great-grandchildren; 4 brothers, Tommy Morse of Sherman; Wayne Morse of Whitesboro; Bill Morse of Whitewright; and Homer Morse of Lubbock; and one sister, Retha Mae Mayo of Paducah.  There were also numerous friends and caregivers, especially those at Clyde Cosper in Bonham, with whom the family gives heartfelt thanks
