A. Wayne Orr, 72, of 1112 W. College, died late Tuesday in a Sherman hospital after an illness of several weeks.

Services were held Thursday in Dannel Funeral Chapel with Dr. Earl R. Hoggard, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating.  Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Born. September 4, 1899 at Luella, Mr. Orr was the son of J. Dean and Carrie Blanch Orr, pioneers of Grayson County.  He was a graduate of Sherman High School and attended Texas A&M University.  He was married to Edith Helen Leach in1 920 at Oklahoma City.
Mr. Orr was formerly district manager of the National Life and Accident Insurance Co. at Oklahoma City, and later was  in business in Sherman, retiring a few years ago.  He was a member of St. Luke's Methodist Church in Oklahoma City, a Mason, member of the Oklahoma City Lodge No. 36, A.F. & A.M.,member of the Elks Lodge No. 238 at Denison, and a member of the American Legion.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Helen Orr Dunn of Big Spring;  a brother, Hoyt Orr of Sherman; a sister, Mrs.  Eula B. Hall of Sherman; one granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
