 West Hill Cemetery Sherman, Texas  Elzie L. Smith 22 April 1912 - 5 April 1951 Eva M. Smith 2 January 1914 - 5 August 2011  Eva Mae Burleson Smith, our precious mother and grandmother met her Savior face to face on Friday, August 5, 2011. She was 97 years young. After living in Ida most of her life, her residence for the last five years was Hilltop Haven in Gunter where she had wonderful caretakers. We thank each of them for their tender care. Waldo Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Services will be held Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at 10:00 AM at the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Thomas Beale, Baptist minister, will officiate. Burial will follow at West Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mike Smith, Greg Milford, Bob Brinkman, Tom Burleson and Larry Burleson. Eva was born in the Pink Hill Community January 2, 1914 to Thomas Hillary and Lillian Inez (Brown) Burleson. She lived in Grayson County all her life and was a graduate of Bells High School. On December 24, 1933, in Tom Bean, TX, Eva married Elzie Smith. He preceded her in death on April 5, 1951. Eva never remarried, but devoted her life to raising her two children. She worked for the Ida Grocery Store, Pool Mfg. Co., Chase Chevrolet, WNJ Hospital and retired from Texas Instruments in 1985. Eva was a long-time member of the Ida Baptist Church. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law Jerry Gray, brothers, Clifford Burleson and Hubert Burleson, sisters Jean Clark and Thelma Smith, she is survived by daughter Carolyn Gray of Sherman; son David Larry Smith of Pottsboro; grandchildren Stephanie Gray Brinkman and husband Bob of Round Rock, Gina Gray Milford and husband Greg of Lubbock and Michael Smith and wife Ashley of Denton; great-grandson Benjamin Gray Brinkman of Round Rock and sisters Barbara Akers and Frances Morris both of Sherman. Memorials may be made to the Ida Baptist Church, 7056 FM 697, Sherman, TX 75090 or Hilltop Haven, 308 E. College, Gunter, TX 75058.
