Funeral services for Bertha Lee Grigg McCuan, who died Saturday, October 8, 2011 at her residence, were held Saturday, October 15, 2011 in Waldo Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Reddell of Central Christian Church officiating.  Interment followed at West Hill Cemetery with Wayne Grigg, Ty Grigg, Gary Shields, Horace Groff, Hulen Chandler, and Charles Case as pallbearers.
Mrs. McCuan was born in Howe, Texas on July 24, 1919, daughter of Frank Irvin Grigg and Lee Ola Butridge Grigg.  She moved to Sherman with her parents when she was 6 years old and attended Sherman schools, graduating from Sherman High School and attending Austin College.  She married Noble McCuan on February 2, 1946 in Sherman.  He precedes her in death.
She was a lifetime member of Central Christian Church, where she served as church secretary and as a Sunday school teacher.  During World War II she was employed as a Clerk-Stenographer at Perrin Air Force Base, and at the time of her death she was a retired Deputy County Clerk, having worked in the Grayson County courthouse for 21 years.
Mrs. McCuan was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Homer Irvin Grigg and Don Clinton Grigg; an infant sister, Evelyn; sister-in-law, Margaret Abbott Grigg Atkins; and a nephew, Kenneth Grigg.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Walter Ronald and Teresa McCuan of Austin; son and daughter-in-law, Donald Franklin and Carolyn McCuan of Centennial, Colorado; a sister-in-law, Fay Grigg of Sherman; two grandchildren, Charles Lee McCuan of Houston and Michelle Lynette McCuan of Austin; niece, Tricia Grigg and nephews, Wayne and Larry Grigg; great-nephews, Ty and Jason Grigg; a great-niece, Holly Grigg Pedigo; and two great-great-nephews.
Memorial may be made to Central Christian Church, 401 S. Travis St., Sherman, Texas 75090.
Services were under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home, Sherman.
