 West Hill Cemetery Sherman, Texas  Katherine E. Winchester departed this life to join her Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, December 27, 2018. She was born March 27, 1935 in Shrman, daughter of Steve and Adena Scruggs. She was one of 13 children, having 5 brothers and 8 sisters. After graduating from Fred Douglas High School, she married her high school sweetheart, Wayne Winchester, on August 20, 1954. Wayne was an Airman in the U.S. Air Force, this is where their united journey of un-wavering love and devotion took flight. For 30 years she traveled with her husband in the military. Upon his retirement they returned home to Sherman, Texas. Katherine was a loving, devoted and treasured wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother,daughter, sibling and friend. She was a dedicated member of the Friendly Church of God and Christ in Sherman. Katherine was loved, not only by her family, but by all those she joyfully met and unselfishly served. She was known for her kind and loving spirit, always greeting those she knew. as well as those she did not know, with her beautiful smile and a warm "hello". She was continuously spreading her love and warm spirit to other throughout her community. She volunteered her time visiting and caring for the elderly and those in need. Partaking of her nurturing spirit, she brought happiness and joy to others with her culinary talents and her gift in creating beautiful floral arrangements. Katherine is survived by her husband; their 3 daughters, Sandra Daniels, Melva Parcher, and Gloria Dunbar; 12 grandchildren, Allison Daniels, Katherine Daniels, Alicia Daniels, Timothy Winchester, Cyrus Winchester, Alvin Wesley, Steven Wesley, Kevin Broadnax, Jr., Michael Winchester, Jaelon Stith, Jerome Alexander Stith, and Mekayla Winchester; 5 great-granchildren, Zayden Daniels, Triston Winchester, Kevin Ryder Broadnax, Elizabeth Wesley, and Dax Adams; and many other family members and friends.
