Purple Heart

Mary Louise Stinebaugh, 88, passed away peacefully from this life Tuesday, October 31, 2017 in Sherman.  Services were held Saturday morning, November 4, 2017 in the Waldo Funeral Home chapel.  Rusty Sherry and Mitch Wiggins of Western Heights Church of Christ officiated.  Burial followed in West Hill Cemetery.  Pallbearers were Ron Campbell, Craig Cameron, James Fry, Mike Stewart, Christ Walling and Damon Vannoy.
She was born June 21, 1928 near Gunter, Texas to Gus and Effie Gaddie.  She moved to Whitesboro at an early age, attending school and graduating from Whitesboro High School.  She then moved to Sherman and worked for National Live and Accident Insurance Co. and Anderson Clayton.
She married Archie "Stiney" Stinebaugh in Sherman on September 27, 1952, and they adopted their daughter, Connie, in 1961. She loved being "Nini" to her adored grandchildren.
Mary Lou was an avid photograph and a member of the Texoma Rockhounds for many years.  She was involved with Camp Fire Girls for 12 years and taught children's Bible classes for many years.  She loved traveling and her favorite place to vacation was in the mountains of Eagle Nest, New Mexico.  She was a talented seamstress, calligrapher, and a whiz at cryptograms.
One of her most important passions was sharing the good news of Christ and she did this faithfully for more than 30 years by being a teacher with World Bible School.  The majority of her students were in Africa, and it was through this ministry that she became introduced to George Funk and his work with the Gospel Chariot Missions, which takes the gospel to 20 African countries.  Through her efforts with WBS several students obeyed the gospel.  She was recognized for her service by the elders at Western Heights Church of Christ by being honored on World Bible School's Memorial Wall of Honor.
She is survived by her daughter, Connie Deckard, and husband, Dennis, of Sadler; grandson, Philip Murtaugh and wife, Ann Marie, of Midland; granddaughter, Caitlin Deckard of New Orleans; sister, Virginia Carter; along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Grady Gaddie; and sister, Faye Wooten.
