 West Hill Cemetery Sherman, Texas  John Dewey Mitchell 1 January 1922 - 25 November 2011 US Army Air Force WWII  John Dewey Mitchell passed away peacefully November 25, 2011 at the VA Hospital in Dallas, at the age of 89. He was born January 1, 1922 in Sherman, Texas, to Vernell and Ella Faye Henderson Mitchell. John served in the Merchant Marines and in the U.S. Army Air Force. After retiring from military service, he returned to Sherman where he was employed in the construction industry and was a member of the Carpenters Union. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Poolley Mitchell, Henry Mitchell, Dan Mitchell and Billy Mitchell. Also, one sister, Ruby Faye; two sons, Phillip and Leslie Mitchell; and one daughter, Maureen Mitchell. John is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary K. Mitchell; son, John D.
