Emogene "Jean" Hestand Wallis was born October 12, 1922 in Tioga to Ruffus D. and Susie Polly Ann (Proffitt) Hestand.  She married William C. Wallis on May 21, 1943 in Sherman.  They had two daughters, Patsy Burrow of Howe and Billie Sims of Mesquite.  Her grandchildren are the late John Armstrong of Howe; Darrin Armstrong and wife, Karen, of Sherman; Jimmy Lee Sims, Darrell Sims, and Bryan Sims, all of Mesquite; great-grandchildren, Terra Madden of Melton, Florida; Chris Armstrong of Denison; Josh Armstrong of Avery; Dylan Gravely of Mesquite; Zachary Sims of Mesquite; and Jasmine Sims of Mesquite; great-great-grandchildren, Makayla and Tiffany Madden of Melton, Florida; Paisley Armstrong of Denison.
She is also survived by sister, Opal Todd, of Howe.
She was preceded in death by her husband; grandson, John Armstrong; brothers, Earl Hestand, Raymond Hestand and Clifford Hestand.
Jean was a lifetime resident of Howe, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Howe.  Her favorite pastime in recent times was playing Rack-O and marbles with her sister in the nursing home.  She loved camping and spending time with family.  Jean loved playing games with the grandchildren,
Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 26 at Flesher Funeral Home in Howe, conducted by Allen Luker, Campus Minister for Hilltop Haven.  Interment followed at West Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Josh Armstrong, Chris Armstrong, Darrell Sims, Bryan Sims, Terry Housewright, Keith Housewright; honorary pallbearers were Brandon Reddick and Harold Turner.
