Mr. McCord, 79, passed away Friday, October 20, 2017, at his home.
Kenneth Reeves McCord was born at home in Sherman on February 6, 1938 to William Julius Ray and Euna Dee Reeves McCord.  Kenneth attended Jefferson Elementary School and had such great memories of his classmates and teachers.  Kenneth was a proud graduate of Sherman High School, Class of 1956 and enjoyed the monthly luncheons of this group.  He served as Class President several years and played football, baseball, and most importantly, basketball.  Kenneth graduated with a BS degree in maths and physics from Texas Tech in 1960.  He received a Med degree in math and physics from the University of North Texas in 1968.
Kenneth entered his first classroom in Albuquerque, New Mexico in the fall of 1960 and continued to teach until he closed the door of his last classroom at Texoma Christian School in May 2007.  He served as coach at Dillingham Junior High School in the ealy 1960s, head coach and athletic director at S&S Schools in the late 1960s and served in the Whitesboro Schools in the same capacity until 1972.
Kenneth returned to Sherman and Piner Middle School as head coach until 1982.  Many men of all ages still call him "Coach" and would not think of addressing him in any other way.  He retired from the Sherman schools in 1993 but continued to teach math at Grayson County College and Collin Community College until 2006.  Kenneth was truly the epitome of a teacher who loved his work for 47 years, respected his students and walked into that classroom each day with a smile on his face, a story to tell and a yearning in his heart to plant the love of math in the mind of one more student.
Kenneth was a member of the Texas Retired Teachers Association and the Grayson County Retired Teachers Association.  He was a past member of the Lions Club of Whitesboro, Grayson County Child Welfare Board and Sherman Ex-Student Association Board.  He was presented a Distinguished Student award by the Sherman Ex-Students Association in 2008.
Kenneth and his family are long time members of First Baptist Church, Sherman.
Mr. McCord is survived by his wife of 59 years, Margaret, of Sherman; two sons, Mike and wife, Pam, of Waco; and Bo and wife, Michelle, of Plano; daughter, Meg Ludwig and husband, Micah, of Prosper; 8 grandchildren, Max McCord of Portland, Oregon; Zachary McCord of Lubbock, Texas; Madison McCord of Plano; Brittany McCord of Menefee, California; Michaela and Dillon McCord of Waco; and Brody and Parker Ludwig of Prosper.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ray, and sister-in-law. - - - Waldo Funeral Home
