Funeral services were held Sunday in the Barrett Funeral Chapel for Jeff Hopper, 76, retired Sherman contractor who died Saturday in a Sherman hospital.  He lived at 419 S. Vaden.
Rev. R.M. Williams, pastor of East Sherman Baptist Church, and Rev. C.J. Graves, pastor of Friendship Methodist Church, conducted the services.  Burial was in West Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Hopper was born May 30, 1884, in Tennessee, son of Mrs. and Mrs. Tom Hopper, and married Miss Cora F. Thornton May 27, 1923 at Tom Bean.
He lived in Tom Bean until 1925 when he moved to Sherman.  A contractor in Sherman from 1925 until his retirement, Mr. Hopper also ran a cabinet shop here for several years.  He was a member for many years of Sherman Country Club and was a past member of the board of directors.  He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors are his wife; a sister, Mrs. N.C. Tennison of Wellington; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Earl Stone, D.M. Hopper, Rufus Hopper, Lowell Carter, Gail Turner, W.A. Thornton and Oscar McDaniel.

Funeral services were held  Friday in Barrett Funeral chapel for Mrs. Jeff Hopper, 81, who died Wednesday in a Sherman hospital.  Her home was 419 S. Vaden.
Rev. James M. Simpson, Jr., pastor of Key Memorial Methodist Church, conducted the services.  Burial was in West Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Hopper was born February 25, 1879, in Effingham, Illinois, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles T. Thornton.  She came to Grayson County as a small child and married Jeff Hopper May 27, 1923 in Tom Bean.
Mrs. Hopper was educated in Cedar Community where her parents lived for many years.  She and her husband moved to Sherman from Tom Bean in 1925.  She was a member of Key Memorial Methodist Church.
Survivors are a brother, O.T. Thornton of Dallas; six nieces, Mrs. Gail Turner of Sherman; Mrs. Stanton Butts of Garland; Mrs. H.W. Key of Arlington; Mrs. Morris McElrath of Lubbock; Mrs. B.B. Gilmore of Haskell; and Mrs. Dallas Wilson of Hobbs, New Mexico; and three nephews, J.T. Thornton of Clinton, Oklahoma; J.R. Thornton of Cascade Locks, Oregon; and W.A. Thornton of Sherman.
Pallbearers were Rufus Hopper, Charlie Key, Gail Turner, Stanton Butts, W.A. Thornton and Dallas Wilson.
