JOSEPH P HOPSON DIES AT SHERMAN
Located There when Sherman was only a Settlement

Sherman, December 13 - Joseph P. Hopson died this morning at 4 o'clock at his home, No. 323 East Cherry Street.  His death was not a great surprise, for he had been in poor health for the last year, and for the past two months had not been getting along well at all.
Mr. Hopson came to Sherman 59 years ago from Kentucky and was married 2 years later to Miss Cynthia Allen, who now survives him.  He has held many responsible positions during his residence in the city, having come here when it was only a settlement with a few houses.  For the last 15 years or so, Mr. Hopson has not been active in business, but is remembered best by the older citizens of the county as once surveyor of Grayson County, which position he held for several years.
Deceased was 85 years and 5 months of age.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Cynthia Hopson, and several children.
