Services for Ray Howdeshell were held Saturday, March 29, at Waldo Funeral Home chapel with Dr. Mark Berrier officiating; internment followed at West HilL Cemetery alongside his mother and two brothers.  Military rites were conducted by Sheppard Air Force Base Honor Guard at the cemetery.
Ray was born December12, 1933, in Sherman, son of Leo Howdeshell and Anne Hatfield and diest at his home on March 25, 2014 at the age of 80.  Ray grew up and graduate from Sherman High School.  After high school, he attended Texas A&M College.  While at Texas A&M in College Station, Texas, he was a member of the Corp of Cadets and served as a Ross volunteer.  He graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering in 1956.  He was an endowed member of A&M Century Club.  After graduating he began work for Magnolia Oil Co. as an engineer in the oil fields of West Texas.  In 1957 he was called to duty as 2nd Lieutenant in the Air Force and trained as a pilot.  When he completed his military duty, he returned to his engineering career and worked for various companies, including Magnolia Co. (Mobil Oil), Vickers, Koch, and Tonkawa Gas Processing Co.  He completed his career as Executive Vice President of the Tonkawa Gas Processing Co. and retired as Vice President of Marketing with Texas Oil & Gas Corp. of Dallas.
Ray was preceded in death by his mother, Anne Katheryn Howdeshell; son, Harold Lee Howdeshell; brothers, Paul Howdeshell and Leo (Hatfield) Howdeshell; sisters, Anna Guffey, Joyce Colley and Leona Munion.
He is survived by his sisters, Nina Wood of Garland, Texas; and Jacqueline Pointer of Sherman; son, Paul Howdeshell and wife Susan and daughters Sarah and Emily of Lewisville, Texas; daughter, Amy Johnson and husband, Rod, and daughter Allie from Lucas, Texas; son, David Howdeshell and wife, Stacy, and children Tyler and Jacob of Missouri City, Texas.
