June 24, 1868

Texas Item - The Clarksville Standard of the 13th says: Marshall Grimes committed suicide at Sherman, between sun down and dark, on the evening of the 2nd, by shooting himself just below the left nipple with an army six-shooter.
He left the following note: Dear Blackburn, please have me buried with a change of apparel.  Causes too numerous to mention for this act.

Note: He is also remembered on his parents' tombstone in Rocky Hill, Connecticut.
