David Lee Wyatt

SHERMAN - Funeral services for David Lee Wyatt will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 12 at West Sherman Baptist Church. Rev. Danny Wood will officiate and burial will follow at West Hill Cemetery under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home. Mr. Wyatt, 81, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at his home in Sherman.
David Lee Wyatt was born November 23, 1929 in Bluefield, West Virginia to the late Hobart and Maggie (Sluss) Wyatt. David learned the value of hard work as a young man and joined the U.S. Army soon after graduating high school. In the Army, he worked primarily as a cook and MP. During his service, he was presented a regional award for "Best Mess". On December 21, 1958, David and Bonnie Shreve were married in Akron, Ohio. David was discharged from the military in 1950 after 20 years of service and began work for the Federal Civil Service. He and Bonnie moved to Sherman in 1997. Mr. Wyatt truly enjoyed people and will be remembered as a hard-working man, as well as a loving father and husband. He was a member of the West Sherman Baptist Church.
Mr. Wyatt is survived by his wife Bonnie of Sherman; three sons, Joseph Wyatt and wife Paula of Colorado Springs, Jeff Wyatt of Sherman, and David Wyatt and wife Annie of Durant; one daughter, Jean Stewart and her husband Mialon of Sherman; one brother, Tom Wyatt of Denver; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister, and one son, Jimmy Wyatt.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Sherman Baptist Church Building Fund at 1830 W. Washington, Sherman, Texas 75092 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
