Graveside services for Lodeal "Milky" Vance, 83, of Sherman will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at the West Hill Cemetery in Sherman.  He passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2009 at his residence in Sherman.
He was born on October 15, 1925, the son of Lester Albert "Pickle" and Mary Margaret Hart Vance.  Milky graduated from Sherman High School and later joined and served in the U.S. Navy.  He then attended and graduated from Austin College.
He was a Golden GLoves boxing champion, a 32nd Degree Mason and has been a member of the Sherman Country Club since 1966.  He loved to fish and was a great fisherman.
He is survived by his daughter, Vicki Dean Arnold and husband Dennis of Plano; son, Les Vance and wife Carolyn of North Richland Hills; grandchildren: Danielle Martinez of Winslow, Arizona; Tiffany Vance Simper and husband Eric of Plano; and Michael Vance and wife Kristen of Houston;  He is also survived by five great-grandchildren; sister, Marie Wendeborn of Sherman; uncle Ed Vance of Sherman; and his companion Alta Hefton of Sherman.
Milky was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lynette "Mack" Vance and twin sister, Lodean Vance.
Visitation will be from noon - 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26 prior to the service.

Services for Mrs. Lynette "Mack" Vance, 72-year-old retired owner of Penn Cleaners in Sherman, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Waldo Funeral Home Chapel. She died Thursday at Wilson N. Jones Hospital.
Dr. Stan Fornea, pastor of the First Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Vance was born near the Hagerman community (Grayson County), the daughter of Bowen McClure and Ellen Franklin McClure. After attending Sherman public schools, she graduated from Sherman High School in 1937. She married Tom J. Penn in Sherman and was active in the Penn Cleaning business until his death. On Sept. 26, 1964, she married Lodeal Vance in Las Vegas, Nev.
After retiring from the cleaners in 1970, she worked as a flower designer for Wayside Florist. She was past president and district director of the Business and Professional Women, past president of Sherman Soroptimist Club and former member of the Sherman Chamber of Commerce. She was active several years with Goodwill Industries, where she had been the board secretary. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband; stepson, Less Vance of Plano; stepdaughter, Vicki Arnold of Plano; sister, Marcelle Zimmerman of Sherman; and three step-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be John Bell, Ed Vance, Dennis Arnold, Henry Lee Scharff, Robert Moore, Lee Terrell and Bill White.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday, and other times at the family residence.
Memorials may be made to Goodwill Industries in Sherman.
