Jerry Donald Harvey, a resident of Houston, Texas passed away at home on November 18, 2011 at the age of 70.
Graveside services will be at Westhill Cemetery, 1304 W. Lamar, Sherman, Texas, 75092 on November 21st at 2 PM.
Jerry was born in Sherman on January 15, 1941. He graduated from Denison High School in l959 where he played football, was captain of the basketball team and served as Senior Class President. He attended Texas Tech University, graduated from North Texas University and was a member of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. He married his high school sweetheart, Danna Ruth Burns, the daughter of the late Daniel Bennett and Ruth Jennings Burns. Jerry and Danna celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in September.
Jerry was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps in 1964. He worked for MKT Railroad and Burlington Northern Railroad. Jerry often spoke of the day his life changed on March 16, l969, when he accepted Christ as his Savior. This lead him to attend seminary and he directed a ministry called The Mustard Seed Jesus House in the Chicago area. For many years he worked for W.R. Grace and recently Chemtool.
Jerry is preceded in death by his brother, Richard Harvey; his father Marion Dain Harvey; and his mother Margaret Harvey.
He is survived by his wife, Danna; his sister Carolyn Lilley and her husband Jerry; his brother Robert Michael Harvey and wife Karen. He is also survived by his children, Dr. Bryan Harvey, Dr. Benjamin Harvey and wife Dawn; Susan Rebecca Harvey; Abraham Harvey and wife Kara. His ten grandchildren, who fondly call him Papa, are Jacob, Emily, and Rachel Harvey; Jerry Bryan, Alexandra, and Keiler Harvey; Mary and John Carthew; Jonah and Lillian Harvey.
The honorary Pall Bearers are Robert Michael Harvey, Bryan Harvey, Benjamin Harvey, Abraham Harvey, Jacob Harvey and Jerry Bryan Harvey.
He served his country, his community, his family and God with honor and conviction. He will be greatly missed but welcomed into heaven with open arms by his Heavenly Father.
