 West Hill Cemetery Sherman, Texas   Lydia Starr McPherson 11 August 1837 - 3 December 1903 The Sunday Gazetteer Sunday, December 20, 1903 pg. 6 It was with genuine sorrow we read a few days ago in the Sherman papers an account of the death of Mrs. Lyda Starr McPherson. Mrs. McPherson established the Sherman Democrat in 1878, and the writer formed her acquaintance about that time. She was a most estimable lady, and had earned considerable reputation in the literary world, being a frequent contributor to the Youth's Companion, Toledo Blade and other popular journals. She also published a book of original poems. Her sons are the present owners of the Democrat, which is one of the best daily's north of Dallas.
