GEORGE ROBERT COOPER
Born in 1820 in Pulaski Co. Kentucky, near Somerset
Son of William Cooper and Susanna Perkins
1st Marriage to Elizabeth Farrell in 1843 in Lafayette Co., Missouri
Military Service
Served in 2nd Missouri Calvary, Co. B. 5th Division, CSA, Captain - Commissioned.
Wounded at battle of Pilot Knob, September 27, 1864.
Became a POW at Alton, Illinois. until end of war, released June 14, 1865.
Had children meet him in St. Joseph, Missouri
Went to Texas; 1866 located near Mantua, Collin Co., Texas
2nd Marriage to Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Riggs, no issue.
In 1880's, they relocated to Sherman to reside with daughter, Mrs. Y. S. Creager
Died January 17, 1909
Buried at the West Hill Cemetery, Sherman Texas
 
ELIZABETH FARRELL COOPER
letter from O. S. Dunn to Thomas Farrell Sr. October 29 1864, Oregon, Missouri
 "Elizabeth has had a long sever spell  (has cholera)..I dispaired of her entraily for several days but she is imporving now and will recover if she takes no relapses.  She is still hardly not able to sit up any and still some what delisious.
 
letter addressed to Miss Ann Farrell Brownsville, Saline Co., Missouri.
To Florinda Farrell from Mary, Dec 20, 1864, Oregon, Missouri

"I was with deare Mrs. Cooper when she died, I went up to see her and she would not give up for she said she knew i could wait on the sick better then anybody she ever saw.  Sje was very anxious to see her relatives before she died, she did not think she would get well from the time she was taken sick, she did not say one word about what she wanted the children to do, poor things what will they do, neither Father nor Mother to advice them.  I staid week with them after their Mothers death, brother is staying with them now and has been ever since they have been sick.  We buried Aunt Bettie in black, she looked so sweet, and any be like all in mourning for that her sister she was soon to meet in that world where mourning is worn no more ............ Bob Cooper was here three days go he said she was some better (re Puss Tolbut)..called "Aunt Bet"

Elizabeth Farrell Cooper died of cholera Nov 25, 1864 in Holt Co., Missouri, leaving the children orphans due to George Robert being in the Civil War.

Photographs were in the effects of my husband's grandmother, Fannie Belle Brown Daniel.
She was the daughter of Mary Jane Cooper Brown.
