Herbert Leman (Herd) Daniel Sr., born 30 Oct 1881 in Pottsboro, Grayson, Texas; died 08 Mar 1936 in Vernon, Wilbarger, Texas.  He married Abbie Lea Myers. Abbie Lea Myers, born 06 March 1894 in Red Oak, Ellis Co., Texas; died 26 December 1980 in Vernon, Wilbarger Co., Texas.  She was the daughter of William Henderson Myers and Sarah Jane Hash.  Abbie and Herbert moved to Vernon, Texas from Grayson Co., Texas in 1919.

1910 Herbert L. Daniel Sr; farmer boarding in Wm. Grimes household Precinct 8 Grayson County Texas
15 Mar 1911 Herbert & Abbie were looking for a preacher to marry them. They met him on a country road in Pottsboro and were married sitting in a buggy.
Sept 1912 Herbert Daniel Sr bite by dog; not knowing if dog was "mad", he took one shot for 21 days in Austin Texas
1915 Living in Munster/St Jo area Cooke Co Texas; receipts, etc establish time frame of living in this area
Nov 1924 Lost lower part of right leg
1930 Living in Wilbarger Co Texas

Herbert trained his greyhounds, as did others in the area, to hunt coyotes.  Men and boys would go out at night with their dogs and
a flash light to hunt the coyotes.  
There was a bounty on the coyotes; the proof of kiill was a set of ears.  Carcuses were sold for as much
as $25.00 each.





Herbert Daniel lost his lower right leg due to Diabetes.
