Mr. Cutler was born in Washington Co., Texas, March 26, 1857. Mother a native of Texas also. Father came to the state in 1844, a native of Ills. The schools in Houston Co. were very poor, teaching only the primary branches of education. When 19, he engaged in the cattle business, driving cattle across to Kansas. He was in this business one year, then engaged in stock raising and farming, then moved to Grayson County. And engaged in the same business until 1882, when elected constable. Remained in this office until 1885, when he was elected marshal, reelected in 1887.

Mr. Cutler now also engaged in farming, owning two (2) farms near Denison, both being very valuable. He also owns considerable Real Estate and renting property in Denison.

Was married in Denison in 1873 Feb'y. to Miss Howland [Howard], daughter of Wiley Howland [Howard], an old timer in Texas. Has family of 1 boy and 3 girls.
