 The Whitewright Sun Thursday, October 16, 1947 pg. 1 Funeral services for Andrew Jackson Garrett, 53, who was born and reared southwest of Whitewright, and died in a Dallas hospital Tuesday, were held Wednesday afternoon at the Barrett Funeral Home in Sherman. Rev. L.O. Evans, pastor of the East Sherman Baptist Church, officiated. Burial was in Warden Cemetery near Tom Bean. Mr. Garrett was born September 12, 1894. He resided in Sherman for a number of years and six years ago moved to Dallas. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Robert Mullins, Paris; two sons, Roscoe Garrett, Ft. Worth and Monroe Garrett, Hobbs, New Mexico; five brothers, Finis Garrett and Henry Garrett, Denison; Charlie Garrett, Leonard; D.W. Garrett and Fred Garrett, both of Whitewright, route four.
