Funeral services for Mrs. Frank Bennett, 81, pioneer resident of Whitesboro and mother of Mrs. Joe L. Dickson of 1316 W. Gandy, were held in the Whitesboro Methodist church Monday afternoon.  Rev. John Brand, pastor of the Whitesboro church; Rev. W.D. Craig of Nocona and Rev. Duke R. Barron , pastor of Waples Methodist church in Denison conducted the services.  Jim Reed of Sherman sang "The Lord's Prayer",  Max  Ralph O Johnson of Denison was organist.  Waldo Funeral Home of Sherman was in charge of funeral arrangements.  Burial was in Whitesboro cemetery.
Pallbearers, all nephews of the deceased, were John Lee Marshall of Sherman; John Ed Dishman and Bill Dishman of Grapevine; Dr. W.E. Meador of Glen Rose; Worth Arnett of Decatur; Weldon Routt of Dallas; and J.B. Jared of Tulsa, Oklahoma
Mrs. Bennett died in Madonna Hospital Sunday morning, December 16 at 4:15 after 6 weeks of illness. She suffered a broken hip in a fall at her home and was taken to the Sherman Community Hospital.  She was recovering satisfactorily from the injury and subsequent operation, and was preparing to be brought to Denison to her daughter's home when she suffered a paralyzing stroke.  She was removed to Madonna hospital in Denison to be nearer her daughter but she grew steadily worse and failed to rally from the stroke.
Mrs. Bennett was born in Jacksonville, September 22, 1872, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Marshall. She graduated from Whitesboro schools and from Mary Nash College in Sherman in 1892.  She was married to Frank Bennett October 19, 1898 in Whitesboro and they had made their home there since that time.
Mrs. Bennett was active all her life in the Methodist Church, in Sunday School work, the Epworth League and the Womens Society of Christian Service.  She served as treasurer of the North Texas Conference for 15 years and as conference officer for 20 years.  A circle of Womens Society of Christian Service in the Whitesboro church is named the Belle Bennett Circle in her honor.
The dining room of the Helen Kirby Hall at the University of Texas was furnished by the North Texas Conference in her honor and a bronze plaque over the door bears her name.
Survivors are her husband; one child, Mrs. Joe L. Dickson of Denison; 2 sisters, Mrs. A.B. Martin of Amarillo and Mrs. Hamp Abney of Houston; a brother, Bart Marshall of Dallas, and one grandson, Lt. Donald Dean Dickson, Malden Air Force Base, Malden, Missouri.
