T.G. Lewter of Dexter Dies at 80

Gainesville, Texas - Thomas Green Lewter, 80, native of Dexter, Cooke County, died Saturday in a local hospital after an illness of seven months.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Whitesboro Methodist Church with burial following in the Whitesboro Cemetery.
A retired farmer, he married Miss Emma Greer in 1897 at Dexter.
Surviving are eight sons, H.C. Lewter of Dexter; W.P. Lewter of El Paso; Burl Lewter of Pampa; P.G. Lewter of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Guy Lewter of Gainesville; D.M. Lewter of Grand Prairie; H.F. Lewter and Barnett (Garnett) Lewter, both of Whitesboro; six daughters, Mrs. Lillian Barnes of Gainesville; Mrs. Opal Woods of Franklin; Ms. Lucile Watson of Whitesboro; Mrs. Harry Frazier of Denver, Colorado; Mrs. William Rose of Fort Worth; and Mrs. H.Y. Snow of Collinsville.
Also surviving are five brothers, Jess W. Lewter of Wichita Falls; R.H. Lewter of Callisburg; Bert Lewter of Sanger; W.T. Lewter of Dexter; and Bart Lewter of Gainesville; four sisters, Mrs. A.O. Lightfoot of Corpus Christi; Mrs. Hattie Buie of Monahans; Mrs. Cora Turner of Lone Grove, Oklahoma; and Mrs. Neal Atkins of Gainesville; and a large number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
