A graveside service for William Ross "Dub" Knight, Jr., 99-1/4 of Luella, Texas, who passed away on March 10, 2017 was held at Whitesboro Cemetery Monday, March 13, 2017.  Travis Masonic Lodge #117 accorded Masonic Rites at the graveside and the U.S. Navy conducted military honors. Dannel Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Dub was born in Whitesboro on October 30,1917 to William R. Knight Sr. and Lettie Belle Lawhorn Knight.  He was raised and attended Whitesboro schools.  At the time of his death, Mr. Knight was married to Peggy M. Yowell Knight.  Dub was self employed with Culligan and also was a home builder in Dumas, Texas for 45 years.  He was a 33rd degree Mason, Shriner, Scottish Rite Commandry, a York Rite Mason and a member of the American Legion.
Mr. Knight is survived by his wife; son William Ross "Bill" Knight III of Dumas; daughters, Tamra Stevens of Marble Falls; Teresa Gullett of Sherman; and Sue Burchfield of McKinney; grandchildren, Ross Knight, Wesley Knight, Wayne Knight, Parker Stevens, Shelsea Stevens Becker, Courtney Stevens, Doug Briggs, Michael Briggs, Erica Finney, Jessica Stanley, Jenna Burchfield, and John Burchfield; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Whitesboro - Funeral services for Velma B. Mayo, 99, were held Saturday, February 26 at the Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro with Rev. Jack Wallace and Rev. Glyn Rives officiating.  Interment followed the service at Oakwood Cemetery.  Velma passed away February 23, 2011 in Sherman.
She was born April 6, 1911 to William Ross and Lettie Lawhon Knight in Lamar County, Texas.  She married William Alfred Mayo on November 28, 1928 at the Methodist Parsonage in Whitesboro.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Whitesboro and had attended Sandy Springs Cumberland Presbyterian Church as a child.
She is survived by her daughters, Gladys Sexton of Whitesboro; Edna Moore and husband, Larry Wayne, of Whitesboro; Aline Conklin of Ellenville, New York; Doris Reed of Whitesboro; Betty Cordell and husband, Daryl, of DeSoto; and Shirley Moore and husband, Eddie, of Tyler; sons, Kenneth Mayo and wife, Retha, of Paducah; and Orville Mayo and wife, Peggy, of Farmersville; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her sisters, Thelma Patterson and WIllie Karr; and sons-in-law, Ron Conklin, Billy Reed and Boyd Sexton; and granddaughter, Carolyn Flowers.
