Whitesboro, Texas - Howard A. LaQuey, 82, of Whitesboro, Texas, passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2007, in Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro, with the Rev. Mike Flanagan officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro.
Howard was born December 27, 1924, in Comanche, Oklahoma, to T.H. and Olie Mae Poteet LaQuey. He married Oleta Shannon on January 5, 1945, in First Assembly of God in Duncan, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death December 20, 1994.
Howard served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He worked as a self-employed building contractor.
He married Gwen Switzer on March 6, 1998, in Southmayd Baptist Church.
Howard loved camping and fishing, and his camping trips to Colorado. He was a member of Good Sams and North Texas Good Sams camping clubs.
He was also a member of North Hills Baptist Church in Whitesboro.
Survivors include his wife, Gwen LaQuey of Whitesboro; a son, Phil LaQuey and wife Terri of Whitesboro; a daughter, Shannon Maynard and husband Kevin of Whitesboro; a stepdaugher, Sherry Muir and husband Richard of Sanger, Texas; stepsons, Billy Roy Switzer and wife June of Denton, Texas, Chet Switzer and wife Betty Lou of Gainesville, Texas; a brother, Ronny Max LaQuey and wife Virginia of Duncan; a sister, Pat Stephens of Ardmore; a granddaughter, Jennifer Maynard of Whitesboro; two grandsons, Jasper Maynard of Whitesboro, and Burk Morphew and wife Misty; six step-grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, T.H. and Olie Mae LaQuey; two brothers, Joe and Melvin LaQuey; and an infant sister, Wanda LaQuey.
Bearers will be his nephews.
Honorary bearers will be members of Tag-Along Sams, and North Texas Good Sams camping clubs.
