Funeral services for Velma Ann Martin "Bunny" Parker, 88, were held Thursday, August 11 at Meador Funeral Home with Rev. H.D. Peters officiating.  Interment followed at Oakwood Cemetery, Whitesboro.  Velma passed away Friday, August 5, 2016 in Weatherford, Texas.
She was born on April 14, 1928 in Dexter, Texas, to Ernest H. Martin and Rena (Baker) Martin.  Velma married Fred Parker February 1, 1947 in Whitesboro, Texas.  She was a member of the Normandale Baptist Church and was very dedicated to her Sunday School and Window of Hope group (ministry for widows).  Velma enjoyed crafts, games, working puzzles and crocheting; she loved to make dish cloths and give to all her friends.
She was also known as "Bunny", a nickname that was given her as an infant and stayed with her for 88 years.  She was proudly named "Mawmaw" by her grandchildren and others and that is how she introduced herself.
Velma is survived by sons, Richard Parker and wife, Beckie, of Granbury, Texas; and Joe Parker of Weatherford, Texas; daughter, Mary Bubinas and husband, Dennis, of Emory, Texas; six grandchildren, Toni Hooten, Alicia Johnson, Chris Parker, Lacresia Davis, Fred Parker and Randy Parker; numerour great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lucille Center of Whitesboro, Texas; Faye Owen of Gainesville, Texas and Martha Davidson of Sherman, Texas; a brother, Pete Martin of Abilene, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Ernest Martin, Greg Scoggins, Mark Martin, Chris Parker, Nathan Johnson and Fred Parker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Fred Parker; daughter-in-law, Alice Parker and five brothers and sisters.
