Funeral services for the James Leroy Butts family, all three of whom were killed late Saturday in a freak auto accident, were held at Richards-Beck Funeral Chapel; burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery, Whitesboro.  Nolan N. Wallace, former minister of Union Street Church of Christ and Rev. Leon Chumbley, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiated.
Mr. Butts, 23,  was a well service operator of Gainesville; he was killed instantly; his wife, Mrs. Reviah N. Butts, 21, died in Gainesville Sanitarium about two hours after the 11 p.m. accident.  Their daughter, Brenda Kay Butts, 16 months old, died on the way to the hospital.
A calf walked onto  Hwy. 83, eight miles west of Whitesboro, hitting the side of a car driven by Fred Lawson of Gainesville; Mr. Lawson instantly pulled off the highway and stepped out of his car to warn oncoming motorists of the dead carcass in the middle of the road.  A car occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Billy Ralph Tilger hit the calf; lost control and collided with the Butts automobile.  The Butts car turned over once and all occupants of both vehicles were tossed out except Mr. Butts, who was pinned in his car.  The Tilgers were treated at Gainesville Sanitarium for minor injuries.  The Butts were returning to Gainesville from Whitesboro.
Mr. and Mrs. Butts were married June 18, 1954 and were both natives of Whitesboro, having moved to Gainesville in 1956.
James Butts is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Virdell Butts; two brothers, Lloyd Wayne and Harold Lynn Butts; grandmother, Mrs. H.L. Butts and grandfather, Millard Varley, all of Whitesboro.
Reviah Butts is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jess Mayo; two brothers, Thurman and Jessie Mayo, Jr., all of Gainesville.
