He was born November 29, 1944 to Dorien Huey and Billy Ray Robertson, Sr.  Billy graduated from Whitesboro High School in 1963, where he was awareded Mr. WHS.  After graduating he went to work as a pay station collector for GTE.  In 1966 he joined the service as a fighting  Navy Seabee and served two tours in Vietnam.  He married Marsha Wood Robertson on November 4, 1973 in Sherman, Texas and they began their life in Plano, Texas, but quickly found the city was not for them, and in 1978 moved to Whitesboro.  Whitesboro seemed to be far more fitting as home.  After his service, he returned to GTE where he worked for thirty years before retiring.  In 2001 he decided to return to the work force as a cable spicer for GCEC.  After retiring from GCEC in 2010, he needed a companion so he bought his best friend, Boss.
Throughout most of his life, he enjoyed playing men's slow pitch softball, fishing, and throwing horseshoes.  He was a member of First Baptist Church of Whitesboro and attended Empty Nesters Sunday School Class.  He looked forward to Wednesday night Awana's, where he was an active listener for the five and six year olds.  In his later years, he spent most of his days with his granddaughters who tendered his heart.  He always wore a smile, he loved loving on people, and he knew how to light up a room.  He was known and loved by all who he encountered.
He is survived by his wife, Marsha; his daughters, Brandy and Megan, and granddaughters, Sherdan Waugh, Kenady, Maysi, and Averey Rentfrow; mother-in-law, Mary Wood; nephews, Brad and Brian Robertson, Todd Detro, Adam Wood and niece, Allyson Emerson; brothers-in-law, Ronald and Kenneth Wood and Sean McDougle.
