Whitesboro - Funeral services for Virginia Whitten Draper, 91, were held Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at the First Assembly of God Church in Whitesboro with Rev. Allen Phillips officiating; interment followed at Oakwood Cemetery, Whitesboro.  Virginia passed away December 17, 2013 at the North Texas Medical Center, Gainesville, Texas.
She was born September 3, 1922 in Winthrop, Arkansas, daughter of Gertrude and Tom Whitten; the family relocated to Texas in the 1930s.  Virginia was a lifelong resident of Whitesboro.
She was employed in many vocations over the years.  During her early adulthood, she was a waitress at cafes and restaurants in the Whitesboro area; employed by the Linda Jo Shoe Factory in Gainesville; Ben Franklin Store in Whitesboro; Whitesboro Manufacturing Company as well as office manager and practical nurse to Dr. Fred Banfield.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents and husband; youngest son, Jimmie Tom Fowler, San Diego, California; sisters, Tommie Jo Gates, Temple, Texas; and Janie Whitten, Sherman; brothers, Tom Whitten, Texarkana, Texas; and David Whitten, Whitesboro.
She is survived by her two sons: Don Fowler and wife, Diane, New Braunfels; and Steve Fowler and wife, Teena, Lincoln, California; nephew Mike Whitten of Whitesboro; five granddaughters and two grandsons; five great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters.
