Funeral services for Jesse Edward Burgin, 70, a carpenter in the Whitesboro area, were held Thursday, July 20, at Richards-Beck Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. ----, Baptist minister, and Rev. R.B. Gilmore, Nazarene minister from Sherman, Texas.  Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery, Whitesboro.
Mr. Burgin died at 2:00 a.m., the morning of July 18 in a Sherman hospital after an illness of two days.  He was a resident of Church Street, Whitesboro.
Mr. Burgin was born March 9, 1891 at Collinsville, the son of Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Burgin.  He married Miss Willie Mae Reed on May 7, 1917 in Guthrie, Oklahoma.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Lt. Col. William E. Burgin, Denver, Colorado; one daughter, Mrs. Joe N. West of Whitesboro; five brothers, Joe B. Burgin of Floydada; W.E. Burgin of Carlsbad, New Mexico; Wayne S. Burgin of Oklahoma City; J.L. Burgin of Denison and Ollie B. Burgin of Denison; two sisters, Mrs. Gladys Thompson of Collinsville and Mrs. Laura Gilmore of Gainesville; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services for Willie Mae Burgin, 88, of Whitesboro were held Thursday, November 14 at Huff Funeral Home Chapel.  She died Tuesday, November 12, 1985 at Whitesboro Nursing Home.  Rev. Harold Watson of First Baptist Church conducted the service, followed by burial in Oakwood Cemetery, Whitesboro.
Mrs. Burgin was born August 6, 1897, daughter of William B. Reed and Elizabeth Carter.  She married Jesse Edward Burgin at Guthrie, Oklahoma on May 7, 1917.  She was a foster grandparent at Denton State School and member of First Baptist Church of Whitesboro.
Survivors include daughter, Norma West of Whitesboro; son, Lt. Col. WIlliam E. Burgin of Huntsville, Alabama; brothers, Olin Reed of Dallas and Virgil Reed of Collinsville; sister, Georgia Coleman of Whitesboro; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were Pat Roberts, Jody West, Carl Young, Ronny Gregory, Ricky Broyles and Carroll Prestige.
