John Franklin Sperry, Jr. was born September 3, 1896 in Grayson County, Texas, son of John Franklin Sperry, Sr. and Beryl Northcutt Sperry.
He passed away May 12, 1987 in Denton, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Stella Kay Porter Sperry; son, Samuel Centenial Coyt Sperry in 1979; infant Jack Portis Sperry born about 1927 and died October 1, 1929 in Grayson Co. (Texas Death Index, 1903-2000). The infant son is buried beside his mother, Stella K. Porter.
The skating rink in Gainesville, Texas was run by Pop and Mom Sperry with the help of their son, Hank, from 1941 until 1981.
