Whitesboro

Whitesboro - Funeral services for Billy Chris Lovejoy, 55, of Whitesboro were held Tuesday afternoon, October 16, 2018 at Sherman Bible officiated by Rev. Bobby Hancock.  Interment followed at Oakwood Cemetery, Whitesboro.
Chris passed from this life into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 in Colorado.
He was born on November 14, 1962, son of Billy Frank "Hank" and Rita Mae Young Lovejoy in Sherman, Texas.  He graduated from Whitesboro High School in 1981 and went on to live a life dedicated to his Lord and his family.  Chris was an all-state trumpet player during his high school career.  He could play every instrument and was an accomplished pianist, vocalist and composer.  He was a former band director and worship pastor for Georgetown Baptist Church of Pottsboro, Texas.  He was the inspiration for the Nativity Live that is held during the Christmas season at Georgetown Baptist.  Chris loved the outdoors; he loved people and everybody loved Chris.  His raidance and passion for Jesus shined out of him like a beacon of light, drawing people to him.  His wife, Lesa said of him, "He was the best human I've ever known.  His father's favorite verse is "I have no greater joy than to know my children walk in the truth."  (3 John 1:4)  Chris lived this every day of his life.  He is described by his whole family as a sweet aroma, a sacrifice well pleasing to God. (Phil. 4:18)  Chris and Lesa exhibited this sacrifice recently in selling all their possessions and following God's call to move to Woodland Park, Colorado to attend Charis Bible College.  While our world may seem a little dimmer, the stars are a little brighter and our friend Chris is playing and singing for his Savior and best friend, Jesus.
Chris is survived by his wife, Lesa Wagner Lovejoy; daughter, Kalie Goldsmith and husband, Tanner; daughter, Courtney Lovejoy and finace, Landon Stephens; granddaughter, Arwyn Goldsmith; parents; sister, Laurie Hilliard and husband, Charles; sister, Sharon Autry and husband, Pat; nieces and nephews, Alec and Morgan Hilliard; Brittlea Autry, Abby Hilliard, Crislynn Autry; Avery Hilliard; Davis Autry; Addison Hilliard; aunt, Virginia Lovejoy Aday; Uncle and Aunt, Jack and Myna Young; as well  as numerous cousins, and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill and Vivian Young and Alec and Grace Lovejoy.
