Osburn "Ozzie" Wilson Davis, Jr., 83, of Denison passed away Thursday, November 23, 2017 peacefully at his home.
Funeral services were held Sunday, November 26, 2017 at First Christian Church in Denison with Dr. Jeff Johnson officiating and burial followed at Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro.
Ozzie was born Thursday, September 20, 1934 in Ponder, Texas to Osburn W. Davis, Sr. and Vivian Funderburgh Davis.  He received his Masters Degree in Education in 1956 from North Texas State College where he was a member of the Theta Chi fraternity.  He then joined the U.S. Army to serve his country from September 1957 to August 1959 and was stationed in Hawaii before his honorable discharge.  In 1963 he married Sara Sue Haralson and they began their life together.  Ozzie was a teacher at Denison High School for 35 years, where he taught accounting and other business classes.  He was also a golf coach for 26 years before his retirement in 1992.  After retirement he continued coaching golf for Grayson County Junior College an additional 5 years.  He was a long-time member of First Christian Church in Denison where he held many positions, including a Deacon and an Elder.  Ozzie touched many lives throughout his life with his irresistible smile and kindness to others.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Doris Mayo.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years; daughter, Michelle Davis of Albuquerque, New Mexico; son, Phil Davis and wife, Becky, of Colleyville, Texas; granddaughters, Abby and Madeline Davis; niece, Sharon Ledbetter; nephew, Mark Mayo; and many church family, friends and devoted caregivers.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one of Ozzie's two favorite charities: The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or The Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).
