Graveside services for Homer Wilson Sanford, 77, of Tioga, father of Mike Sanford of Decatur, were held Friday, September 28 at Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro, with Charles Hyde officiating. Pallbearers were David Sanford, Travis Sanford, Roby Sanford, Steve Arnold, Kevin Sanford, Ellis Stofle, David Saye, and Bob Hart. Honorary pallbearers were Glenn Chapman and Kevin Johnson.
Sanford died Tuesday, September 25, 2001, in Denton.
Born November 9, 1923 in Van Alstyne, he married Maurice Hall on September 23, 1978. He was self employed until he retired. He served in the US Navy in World War II and was a member of the Whitesboro Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Maurice Sanford of Tioga; two sons, Mike Sanford of Decatur and Carroll Sanford of Denton; two daughters, Pam Arnold and Carolyn Ganzer, both of Denton; a sister, Mary Ann Aycock of Ft. Worth; 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
